RACHEL ORTAS AT TATTY DEVINE
Tatty Devine enjoy working with like-minded artists and musicians and have begun holding regular exhibitions and events in their Brick Lane shop again. Rachel Ortas will be returning to showcase her latest work in September.
Rachel is an illustrator, graphic artist and artist in residence at Central St Martins, in addition to contributing to many art publications.
Her screenprinted illustrations include weird and wonderful characters who look cute but have a slightly menacing edge, which is what makes them appealing to adults as well as children. One of her most well-known characters are the AiAis, monsters from outer space, which have been exhibited in Magma and the Science museum.
These characters appear in comic strips, books, cards and ????. Rachel is also one of the creators and founders of OKIDO an educational and fun art and science magazine for children.
The exhibition is on 6th September 2007 from 6:30pm to 9pm. Rachel will be showing a selection of new work including the new Monade CD album cover (which she also sings on) and ????
As well as all this The Apaches, a four-piece act encompassing burlesque and songs from the 20s to the 50s, will be performing, so it's sure to be a fun filled evening!
